New Board Game From Coastal Classics Takes Players on Journey Through Charleston
CHARLESTON, S.C. – It’s two steps forward and one step back in the new Charleston Chase game from Coastal Classics. Players will find themselves strawberry picking at Boone Hall, shrimping at Shem Creek and even getting bitten by a crab as they try to be the first to make it from the plantations of West Ashley through downtown to the ocean by Sullivan’s Island.
The game, hand-painted by local artist Cindy Saadeh, is printed on washable fabric and recreates all the things the Lowcountry is known for from alligators and shrimp to windsurfing and the Hunley. Available only at Coastal Classics, Charleston Chase will retail for $25 and will be available Nov. 1, just in time for holiday gift-giving. Prior to that date, Coastal Classics will be accepting reservations. The original piece of artwork will also be on display Oct. 6-22 at the Charleston Symphony House of Design & Boutique at 22 Joggling St. in I'On where Cathy Spencer of Coastal Classics is a featured designer. Giclee prints of the game board are also available for purchase in the store for $600.
“Charleston Chase is a wonderful game that is not only beautiful to look at but fun to play -- for all ages,” says Cathy Spencer, co-owner of Coastal Classics who came up with concept for the game. “We hope locals and tourists alike will enjoy this delightful trip through all things Charleston.”

Cindy Saadeh, a native of Winston Salem, N.C., is a Mt. Pleasant, S.C.-based artist who paints using oil on canvas. She’s studied with artist Richard Palomino in Montpellier, France, learning the Dutch Master technique and painting with “glassis,” or thin layers of paint to achieve depth in the painting. Today, Saadeh enjoys painting a variety of subjects including the plentiful landscapes and scenery of the Charleston area and often paints en plein air. Saadeh currently lives in I’On with her husband and son.
